1. Ex-Governor Ambode denies link to N9.9billion

FormerLagos State Governor, Akinwunmi Ambode, has vehemently denied link in the alleged N9.9billion fraud under his administration.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) had few days ago revealed that a Federal High Court judge had ordered the freezing of 3 bank accounts linked to the former governor over N9.9billion fraud.

Ambode in his response to the allegation by the anti-graft says that none of his accounts contained the said amount, saying that his record was clear.

2. EFCC to arraign Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar’s lawyer

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) is set to arraign Uyiekpen Giwa-Osagie, Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar’s lawyer, for allegedly laundering $2million.

The anti-graft alleges that Giwa-Osagie and his brother, Erhunse, moved the huge cash during the build-up of the 2019 general elections without going through financial institution. According to the EFCC, the crime happened on February 12, 2019.

The anti-graft further noted that the amount exceeded the maximum amount allowed to be moved by law. Consequently, the EFCC through its lawyer, Rotimi Oyedepo, says that the duo acted contrary to Sections 18(a) and 1(a) of the Money Laundering (Prohibition) Act 2011, which is punishable under Section 16(2)(b).

3. President Buhari’s campaign director dumps APC, joins PDP

Alhaji Bature Sambo, President Muhammadu Buhari’s campaign coordinator in Zamfara State in the 2019 general election, and other top officials of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) have defected to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

The top APC Chieftains dumped the party alongside over 6,000 of their supporters.

They said that they decided to dump the APC because of the obvious achievements of Governor Bello Matawalle within just few months into his administration, saying that the PDP governor ended banditry in Zamfara within 2 weeks.

4. Buhari says Atiku’s case at the Election Tribunal is doomed to fail

President Muhammadu Buhari, the presidential candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), in his final address at the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal says that the petition by Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and his party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), lacks evidence and should consequently be dismissed.

Buhari through his lawyer, Chief Wole Olanipekun (SAN), noted that Atiku and PDP’s petition was centred on conjecture and anchored on live conflicting and irreconcilable grounds.

5. European Union reacts to #RevolutionNow protest, Sowore’s arrest

The European Union in its reaction to the arrest and detention of Omoyele Sowore by the Department of the State Services (DSS) says that peaceful protests remain the main part of democracy.

The reaction was issued by Ketil Karlsen, the EU Ambassador to Nigeria, while responding to a question by Punch Newspaper.

The EU noted that it would not tell Nigeria how to run its internal affairs.
