Buhari orders investigation into the killing of 3 policemen by soldiers

President Muhammadu Buhari has ordered the Defence Headquarters to investigate the killing of 3 police officers and a civilian by soldiers of the Nigerian Army in Taraba State.

Buhari’s directive was revealed by the Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar.

The CAS spoke after the National Security Council meeting presided by President Buhari at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.

Naija Buzz News had reported how the Nigeria Police accused soldiers of the Nigerian Army of killing 3 of its officers who were on legitimate duty.

The Nigerian Army however noted that the soldiers mistakenly opened fire on the policemen because they thought they were kidnappers. Army further blame the Police for the communication gap which led to the incident.

But the Nigeria Police accused the Nigerian Army of deliberately killing the police officers to release the kidnap kingpin, Alhaij Hamisu, who was on handcuff at the time of the incident. The Police further asked for the whereabouts of Alhaji Hamisu.

Meanwhile, the Nigeria Police Force and the Nigerian Army had setup an investigative panel headed by Michael Ogbizi, a Deputy Inspector General of Police, to look into the case.
