The Department of State Services (DSS) has responded to the recent court order granted to the leader of the Islamic Movement of Nigeria (Shiites), Sheikh Ibraheem El-Zakzaky, and his wife, Zeenab, permission to travel abroad for medical treatment.
The DSS in a statement through its spokesperson, Peter Afunnaya, noted that it would comply with the court order.
Naija Buzz News had on Monday reported how the Federal High Court sitting in Kaduna granted the Shiites leader who had being incarcerated since 2015 permission to travel for treatment abroad.
Read the statement issued by the DSS below (as obtained in part by Naija Buzz News);
“This is to inform the public that the Department of State Services has received the order granting Ibrahim El-Zakzaky leave to travel to India for medical treatment. Consequently, the Service is liaising with relevant stakeholders to ensure compliance,” DSS said.
“Conformity with the order is in line with the service’s avowed commitment to the rule of law inherent in a democracy,” the DSS added.
