Shiites accuses Buhari of working for Saudi Arabia; reveals Boko Haram and Fulani herdsmen sponsors

The Islamic Movement of Nigeria (aka Shiites) in its response to the ban against it by the Federal Government accuses President Muhammadu Buhari of doing the bid of Saudi Arabia.

According to the group, President Buhari purposely declared the Shiites a terrorist organization so that he can eliminate Sheikh Ibraheem El-Zakzaky, their leader.

Naija Buzz News had reported how the Federal Government obtained an order from Justice Maha of an Abuja Federal High Court to proscribe the group following a violent protest last week which led to the death of Usman Umar, the Deputy Commissioner of Police in Abuja; and Precious Owolabi, an NYSC member serving with Channels TV.

Their protest became violent as the Shiites members who were protesting against the incarceration of their leader, El-Zakzaky, since 2015, clashed with the police in Abuja. About 11 of their members died in the clash on July 22.

Similarly, the Shiites protest turned violent when they stormed the National Assembly earlier in the month. The clash with security operatives led to the destruction of the National Assembly gate, vehicles and other properties.

The Inspector General of Police, Adamu Mohammed, following the ban ordered the arrest of all leaders of the group nationwide. He noted that Shiites are now terrorists and must be treated as enemies of Nigeria.

“Let me affirm that in relation to the Islamic Movement in Nigeria, in view of their increasing engagement in terror tactics and other violent and subversive activities which contravene the Terrorism Prevention Act, 2013, as amended, and vide the judicial pronouncement of the Federal High Court, Abuja, on July 26, 2019, the Federal Government has classified them as a terrorist group and has accordingly, proscribed the El-Zakzaky-led Islamic Movement in Nigeria,” IGP Mohammed said.

Mr. Mohammed further noted that any Shiites members or associates arrested would be prosecuted under the Terrorism Act, adding that procession or protests by the group are now illegal.

The police chief accused the group of working for foreign countries to destabilize Nigeria from within. Adamu said that the Shiites had become a threat to national security, adding that the group was working towards creating an Islamic state in Nigeria.

Speaking about the recent proscription, the group spokesperson, Ibrahim Musa, noted that the President Buhari-led government wants to embark on a massive underground killing of their members as well as security operatives just to destroy their name.

He alleges that the ban was a part of the conditions given to Buhari by Saudi Arabia (particularly the Wahhabi/Salafi regime).

Musa further accused those behind Shiite proscription of sponsoring the Boko Haram terrorist group and the Fulani herdsmen killing innocent Nigerians, saying that the President Buhari government is currently dominated by Boko Haram and Fulani herdsmen ideologues who are pathological enemies of Shiites Islam.

The Shiites spokesman further alleged that all terrorist group in the world claims to be Sunni Muslims, but they are not real Sunnis. He noted that they are Salafists, saying that Buhari and majority of his cabinet members shares same ideology with the Salafists whose agenda is to kill real Sunnis, Shiites and Christian.
