On Saturday, members of the Boko Haram terrorist group killed 60 persons and injured 10 others at a gravesite in Borno State.
The 60 persons had gone to bury someone when the terrorists invaded the burial site and opened fire on them.
The incident happened around 11:40am on Saturday in a village called ‘Badu’, Nganzai Local Government Area of Borno.
Muhammad Bulama, the Chairman of the LGA, told Naija Buzz News correspondent and other journalists that they came on a reprisal attack because they were earlier repelled by the villagers and vigilante group.
“Two weeks ago, Boko Haram insurgents attacked Badu village but the attack was repelled by the villagers and members of the vigilante group,” Bulama said.
According to him, the villagers and vigilante group killed 11 of the insurgents and recovered 10 AK-47 rifles.
The insurgents however took the villagers unaware in an apparent reprisal attack at the burial site.
Recently, the group killed an Army Colonel, Captain and other soldiers as they invaded an Internally Displaced Person camp in Maiduguri, the capital of Borno State.
