Atiku says US visa ban confirms that 2019 presidential election was rigged in favour of Buhari

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, the Presidential Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has said that the restrictions placed on some individuals in Nigeria by the United States of America is a prove that the February 23 Presidential Election was rigged.

Naija Buzz News had reported the ban by the US State Department which includes visa restriction on certain individuals who were involved in violent act and destabilization of democracy in Nigeria.

Atiku in his reaction noted that the ban shows that the poll was rigged in favour of President Muhammadu Buhari of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Atiku’s recent statement on the presidential poll, which he vehemently rejected, was released by his aide, Paul Ibe.

The former VP alleges that the position of the US Department of State vindicated his position.

He further thanked the US for standing with Nigerians against those who desire to truncate democracy in Nigeria, saying that the US visa ban has forced the Buhari-led government to face the truth that the election was actually rigged.

Atiku who vehemently rejected the outcome of the presidential poll approached the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal to challenge President Buhari’s victory. According to him, the result announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) was fake, saying that he won the poll based on the real result he obtained from the central server of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
