President Muhammadu Buhari and Justice Tanko Muhammad, the acting Chief Justice of Nigeria

President Muhammadu Buhari has sworn-in Justice Ibrahim Tanko Muhammad as the substantive Chief Justice of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

According to the Presidency, the swearing-in took place at the Presidential Villa in Abuja earlier today.

Naija Buzz News had reported the confirmation of Justice Muhammad by the Senate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria last week following a formal request in a letter by President Buhari for his confirmation.

CJN Muhammad was appointed Acting CJN in January following the suspension of Ex-CJN Walter Onnoghen following allegation of false asset declaration by the Code of Conduct Bureau (CCB). He eventually resigned voluntarily from office before his conviction by the Danladi Umar led Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT).
