On Saturday in Gusau, the capital of Zamfara State, villager from Jimrawa, one of the communities in the state being terrorized by bandits, stormed the Zamfara State Government House with the corpse of one of their people who was killed by bandits.
The villagers who were received by the State Commissioner of Police, Usman Nagogo, noted that despite the peace efforts by the government, the bandits were still killing their people, saying that over 30 had been killed in the past few days.
According to the villagers, the peace effort to end the killings by the current government in place was not working.
The police commissioner who attended the burial of the victim assured the villagers that something must be done to ensure the killings and banditry ends soon.
Naija Buzz News had few weeks ago reported how Nagogo had accused the Fulani leaders in the state of not ensuring that their people (herders) surrender their arms despite efforts by farmers and villagers to ensuring the peace dialogue works.
The response to the police commissioner by the leader of the Fulani herders in the state was however rather not encouraging.
