Colonel, Captain, 6 soldiers and a civilian killed in Boko Haram attack

Lt. Gen. Tukur Buratai, the Chief of Army Staff

A colonel, a captain, 6 soldiers and a civilian were on Wednesday evening killed by the Boko Haram terrorist group.

The soldiers who were attached to the 29 Task Force Brigade under the Nigerian Army 7 Division in Maiduguri, were ambushed by the sect around 6:30pm at a village called ‘Jakana’ along the Maiduguri-Damaturu road.

The attack occurred close to a military check point along the road. Report from our source revealed that five soldiers stationed at the check point died in the attack.

The sect apparently took advantage of the commercial vehicles on the road to attack the soldiers.

An RSM who was on his way to Maiduguri was intercepted and killed by the gruesome sect. Our source informed Naija Buzz News that the RSM was not on uniform when he was blocked and killed immediately.

The colonel and captain who were killed in the attack were allegedly travelling to Maiduguri when they were caught in the attack.

The unfortunate civilian who was killed in the attack was said to be a villager in the community. He was hit alongside 2 other villagers who are still recuperating from the attack.

Recently promoted Maj. Gen. Abdulmalik Biu, the General Officer Commanding (GOC) 7 Division, was at the scene of the attack on Thursday.

The gruesome attack came just few days after the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Tukuru Buratai, described the cry of insecurity as a political game and when President Muhammadu Buhari described recent insecurities as isolated attacks.
