Following the order by the Justice Garba Muhammad led Presidential Election Petitions Tribunal (PEPT) to handover documents requested by the Presidential Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, to prove their case; the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Thursday brought 55 cartons of documents to the petitioners (PDP and Atiku).
Atiku is challenging the victory of President Muhammadu Buhari in the February 23, 2019 Presidential Election. He had vehemently rejected Buhari’s victory, saying that he won the poll according to results he obtained from the server of the electoral umpire.
INEC had however denied operating a server in the election, saying that results were collated manually and not electronically as alleged by Atiku.
Naija Buzz News had reported how witnesses who worked as electoral officials for INEC in the election revealed that they actually did transmit results to a server as instructed by INEC.
Atiku initially noted that he had 400 witnesses to call at the PEPT. The problem however is that he had just 10 days to call his witnesses. So far, only 58 of them have testified as of Thursday.
The petitioners are expected to close their case on the 10th day which will be today, Friday, 19th July, 2019.
