One of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar’s witnesses at the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal (PEPT) has revealed how the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) alleged connived with the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) to create about 1,145 illegal polling units in Borno State.
The witness, Nickolas Shediza, who was the state collation agent for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), told the PEPT that the polling units in the state were 3,933, but during the February 23 elections, it grew to 5,078.
He further revealed that the number of votes alleged cast in certain parts of the state (in total of 919,786) was more that the number of accredited voters announced by INEC for the area where the votes emerged from.
Mr. Shediza was however not able to state the actually number of accredited voters he said INEC announced earlier before the election.
Witness reveals that form EC8C contains mutilated results
Another witness identified as Jaffaru Ibrahim told the PEPT that the form EC8C contained mutilated result.
Ibrahim who is a lawyer said that the however signed the form EC8C to prove that he witnessed when the allegedly mutilated results were transmitted from the ward and local government result sheets to the form EC8C.
“My signature was not to endorse the firm but to show that I witnessed the irregularities, in accordance with provisions of the electoral act,” Ibrahim told the PEPT.
Kaduna PDP agent reveals that results were cancelled in Sanga LG
Also, John Makama, another witness who was a PDP agent in Kaduna State alleged that he witnessed firsthand result sheets been cancelled at the Sanga Local Government collation centres.
He further said that parts of the reports given to him by ward and location government collation agents were noted down in his witness statements.
