Senator Abbo apparently has anger issues; exchanges words with his colleagues during his physically assault case hearing

Senator Elisha Abbo, the lawmaker representing Adamawa North Senatorial District

Senator Elisha Abbo, the lawmaker representing Adamawa North Senatorial District, on Tuesday during the hearing of his alleged assault on a lady in an adult shop in Abuja, told the panel setup to probe him not to threaten him with suspension.

The senator appears to have anger problem as he was seen in a video shouting and exchanging words with his colleagues who were probing him.

Naija Buzz News had reported how the senator physically assaulted the lady identified as Bibra in the adult shop in Abuja.

We also reported how he apologised to the lady and Nigerians in tears following public outcry and protest by Nigerians.

Naija Buzz News also published how he was granted N5million bail after he pleaded not guilty in court when he was arraigned by the Nigeria Police.

The senate had setup a six-man panel led by Senator Sam Egwu to probe the senator for his shameful act.

Senator Abbo told his colleagues on Tuesday that since the case was already in court, he would not make any comment that could amount to prejudice. And refused the clerk of the panel to put him on oath.

Abbo told the panel that he had no reason to appear before them or make any comment regarding the issue, saying that his presence was out of respect for his colleagues.

Senator Oluremi Tinubu, the wife of APC National Leader, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, who is part of the panel however expressed disappointment over his comment.

In her response she said; “The Senate carefully selected members of this committee to hear your own side of the story which has gone viral.

“What we are doing here is a position taken by the Senate to hear from you and others involved.

“This matter has affected the Senate as an institution and we have been mandated to investigate it. You can’t sit there on the other side and dictate the modalities and approach we follow to us as committee.”

“We are trying to protect the Senate and hear from you, but we can also suspend you because of your attitude.”

Mrs. Tinubu’s talk about suspension apparently angered Abbo which made him told the senators not to threaten him with suspension.

“Dear colleagues, I won’t sit here and allow this committee to threaten me with suspension. Is it out of place for me to say I’m not addressing you since this matter is before a court of law of competent jurisdiction?

“I came here to honour you as colleagues after receiving an SMS inviting me here. I want you to remember that this matter is before a court of competent jurisdiction and I don’t want to go to contempt of the court,” he said.

Another member of the panel, Senator Matthew Urhoghide, further urged his colleagues to hear Abbo off camera. Consequently, the press were excused out of the room.

The lady who was assaulted however could not appear before the senate panel. Her lawyers submitted a letter before the panel stating that she could not come because she was in the hospital.
