Afenifere begs South-West Governors to implement security summit report immediately

South-West Governors

Afenifere, the apex Yoruba socio-political group, has called on the Governors in the South-West geopolitical region to immediately implement its recent security summit report.

The group noted that the implementation of the report was the right way to tackle the insecurity in the region, saying that the safety of lives and properties in the region is a concern of everybody regardless of religious or political affiliations.

“We are in support of any person or group of persons that discuss the issue very seriously. For the six governors, coming from different political backgrounds to organise such a summit showed that they were serious about it,” Bashorun Sehinde Arogbofa, the Afenifere Secretary-General, told Naija Buzz News and other journalists.

“However, we are now waiting for the implementation of the report of the summit. This will show their sincerity of purpose,” he added.

Recently, there was an attack on one Ismail Adasofunjo, the 76 year old village head of Seriki village, located in Odeda Local Government Area of Ogun State, by suspected herdsmen.

The herdsmen reportedly invaded the village around 8pm to wreak havoc.

According to reports as confirmed by Abimbola Oyeyemi, the Police PRO in Ogun State, the old man was attacked on Thursday night with machete because his wife refused to sell cigarettes to two herders.

The deep machete cuts on him made him lose a lot of blood and eventually went into coma for three days.
