Prof. Itse Sagay (SAN), the Chairman of the Presidential Advisory Committee Against Corruption

Prof. Itse Sagay (SAN), the Chairman of the Presidential Advisory Committee Against Corruption, has told Senator Ahmed Lawan, the President of the Senate, to stop misleading Nigerians with half-truth.

Sagay’s statement came as a response to the senate president’s claim that he earn N750,000 monthly as salary.

Naija Buzz News had reportedly how Senator Lawan revealed that he does not believe that there is anything like jumbo pay for lawmakers, saying that he earns N750,000 monthly.

Sagay however berated the senate president, saying that senators earned N15million monthly, not N750,000 as he claimed.

According to the professor, Nigerians are not interested in how much he receives as salary, but how much he receives monthly as salary and allowances.

He further noted that the allowances for building, furniture, etc are where the jumbo pay comes in.

Sagay further noted that Lawan and the Speaker of the House, Femi Gbajabiamila, earns more than other members as the National Assembly principals.

He noted that he was aware that senators earns N15million monthly, but he is yet to discover how much a senate president, deputy senate president, speaker of the house, deputy speaker, and other leaders earns.

Sagay noted that a single senator takes about N280million home every year.
