We did not endorse Governor Yahaya Bello and we are not planning to – Kogi APC says

Governor Yahaya Bello

The Kogi State chapter of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has denied reports that it had endorsed Governor Yahaya Bello as its choice candidate for the forthcoming November 16 governorship election in the state.

The position was made known at a press conference in Abuja by some executive members of the party led by its secretary, Salam Adejo.

According to the secretary, the state executives have no power to endorse any aspirant, saying that the APC governorship ticket is available to all qualified party member.

“We did not endorse anyone and we are not planning to. The party’s ticket is open to everyone in the party,” he said.

When asked if the performances of the governor could earn him an APC ticket for the November poll, Adejo said; the party has its own criteria on what it wants from a candidate. If someone has performed well or is an achiever, it will speak for him.”

Adejo noted that although some state party executives had discussion with the governor on Saturday, the issue of endorsement was not discussed.

“Our discussion ended on the need for peace so that the party could move forward. He said he needed sincere peace and we agreed on terms. There was nothing like endorsement.

Mr. Adejo further revealed more of what was discussed in the meeting.

According to him, Governor Bello requested that the case against him in court be withdrawn, but the executives who attended the meeting told him that withdrawing the case is subject to another negotiation and that it involves certain processes.
