Ex-Governor Prince Abubakar Audu’s son declares intention to contest Kogi Governorship against Governor Yahaya Bello

Prince Mona Mustapha Audu, a son of late former Governor of Kogi State, Prince Audu Abubakar

Prince Mona Mustapha Audu, a son of late former Governor of Kogi State, Prince Audu Abubakar, has joined the Kogi State Governorship race under the platform of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Mona on Thursday in Abuja revealed his intention to contest for the APC governorship ticket against the incumbent governor of the state, Alhaji Yahaya Bello.

While speaking at a news conference, he advised traditional rulers in Kogi State against involving themselves in politics.

His warning is apparently a reaction to the recent visit to President Muhammadu Buhari by monarchs in the state led by Governor Bello.

He further noted that traditional rulers cannot decide who the next governor of the state becomes, only citizens of the state can.

Mona also noted that if Governor Bello had performed well, he would not need to lobby for the endorsement of President Buhari.
