The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) Governors on Tuesday left their respective states and duties to visit President Muhammadu Buhari in Abuja just to congratulate him on the emergence of his choices as principal officers of the National Assembly.
The purpose for the APC governors visit on Tuesday was revealed by the Chairman of the ruling party Governors Forum, Atiku Bagudu of Kebbi State.
“We came to congratulate him on the National Assembly elections and thank him for the confidence he had in the progressive governors forum members, who participated actively in all the processes that led to the emergence of Senator Ahmad Lawan as Senate President; Ovie Omo-Agege as Deputy Senate President; Femi Gbajabiamila as Speaker, and Ahmed Wase as Deputy Speaker,” Governor Bagudu told journalists after the meeting.
His statement came following insinuations that one of the purposes for their visit was regarding the nominees to make Buhari’s next cabinet.
He however revealed that they had no role to play in deciding President Muhammadu Buhari’s choices for ministerial positions.
The APC governors led by the Chairman of the APC Governors Forum had on Tuesday met with Buhari for about 30 minutes at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
Bagudu while speaking to journalists after the meeting vehemently denied insinuation that nomination of ministers for the president’s next cabinet was among the purpose for the meeting.
The governor reaffirmed that they visited Buhari to congratulate him on the emergence of Ahmed Lawan and Femi Gbajabiamila as Senate President and Speaker respectively.
