The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has again denied having any server where the results of the February 23 presidential election were stored.
Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, the Presidential Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), had in his petition against the outcome of the presidential poll alleged that he won the election based on the result he obtained from INEC server.
Atiku at the Presidential Election Petitions Tribunal (PEPT) seek for permission to inspect the alleged server, and smart card readers used in the conduct of the election.
INEC however asked the court to dismiss the application seeking to inspect the server and card reader because there is no server.
“They are asking us to bring something we do not have,” INEC said through its lawyer, Yunus Usman.
Naija Buzz had few months ago published a report in which the electoral commission said that Atiku’s result were fake because there was no server and results were not collated nor transmitted electronically.
In his response Atiku noted that he was ready to invite Microsoft, IBM, and Oracle experts to prove his case.
Also, Wole Olanipekun, President Muhammadu Buhari’s lawyer; and Lateef Fagnemi, the counsel to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), asked the PEPT to dismiss the application by the PDP and its candidate because no server exists.
The opposition PDP had alleged that Atiku won the election with over 1.6million votes, adding that according to data obtained from the server, he (Atiku) got 18,356,732 votes, while Buhari scored 16,741,430 votes.
INEC however declared Buhari winner of the poll, saying that he (Buhari) scored 15,191,847 votes to defeat Atiku who got 11,262,978 votes.
The spokesman for the Buhari Campaign Organisation, Festus Keyamo, had however in a response to Atiku’s petition alleged that the former Vice President might have smuggled the alleged results into INEC Server.
His statement contradicts the position of the APC, INEC, and Buhari who said there was no server where election results were stored.
