IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: Here’s Kano Emirate response to the State Government on the N3.4billion fraud allegation

Mohammed Sanusi, the Emir of Kano

The Kano Emirate Council has responded to the N3.4billion fraud allegation against the Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II, by the state anti-graft agency.

Naija Buzz had published a report by the Kano anti-corruption commission accusing the Emir of misappropriating N3.4 billion since his emergence as Emir. The anti-graft further recommended the take-over of his emirate pending the determination of the investigation.

Consequently, the Kano State Government ordered the Emir to respond within 48hours to the allegations against him.

The Emirate Council in its reply noted that when the Emir emerged as Sarkin Kano in 2014, the amount in the Emirate Council account was about N1.8billion (exactly One Billion Eight Hundred and Ninety Three Million, Three Hundred and Seventy Eight Thousand, Nine Hundred and Twenty Seven Naira, Thirty Eight Kobo Only).

The Emirate further noted that the Emir to whom the allegation was against is not the Accounting Officer of the Kano Emirate Council.
