Governor Seriake Dickson of Bayelsa State has vowed that he would ensure that another PDP governor succeeds him.
“Another PDP governor will be elected in the next election. It will be my pleasure to lead the PDP with your support so that another PDP governor will be elected,” the governor stated.
Mr. Dickson whose tenure ends in few months time stated this while speaking on Tuesday at a Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) stakeholders meeting held in Yenagoa, the Bayelsa State capital.
He advised the PDP governorship aspirants in the state against causing divisions in the party because of their ambitions, but rather embark on massive mobilisation of supporters across the state.
“I urge all the aspirants to step into the communities and mobilise the people,” he said.
The governor boasted that there is only one party with the popularity and strength to win a free, fair and credible election in the forthcoming governorship election in the state, and that party is the PDP.
Consequently, he told the PDP aspirants that they have a better platform to achieve their ambitions.
He further spoke on the gradual decline of revenues from the Federation Account Allocation Committee, saying that the state’s earnings have being on a decline since January 2019. Dickson noted that there is about N6billion decline in the state’s allocation since January despite the increase in crude oil price.
According to him, the economy is so terrible that he fears it may slip into another recession.
“The economy is so terrible. We are praying that the country doesn’t go into another recession with the way they are going. Crude oil is being produced; the quantity is high and the price is even better,” Governor Dickson stated.
