2,175 suspects arrested, 63 kidnap victims rescued, 2 rocket launchers and over 19,000 live ammunitions recovered – Police IG reveals

Mohammed Adamu, the Inspector General of Police (IGP), has revealed that operatives of the police force attached to the Operation Puff Adder had so far arrested 2,175 criminals, and recued 63 kidnap victims since April 5.

The IGP noted that the arrested suspects included 852 arrested for kidnapping, 865 arrested for armed robbery, 359 for murder and 99 for cultism.  

He further revealed that two rocket launchers and 19,009 live ammunitions were recovered from some of the suspects apprehended in Oyo State.

Mr. Adamu stated this when the Nasarawa State Chapter of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria led by Alhaji Amiu Maifata visited him in Abuja on during Sallah celebration.

The special operation was launched on April 5 to combat the spate of kidnappings and banditry in the nation especially in the northern region of the country.

The IGP had in a statement in Kaduna weeks ago revealed that over 75% of banditry, kidnappings and killings in the first quarter of the year was recorded in the north.
