CORRECTION: EFCC says reports of Okorochas’s arrest false; but he’s being investigated for financial crimes

Ibrahim Magu, the Acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC)

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has denied reports that it arrested the family of Ex-Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo State.

Naija Buzz had on Thursday published an unconfirmed report over alleged arrest of Okorocha’s wife and his children by the anti-graft.

The EFCC however denied the report, describing it as false.

The commission however noted that investigation of Okorocha was however ongoing.

Okorocha’s immunity from arrest expired on May 29 following the completion of his tenure as governor.

He had in the final few days of his tenure completion raised an alarm over an alleged plot by some leaders of his party to instigate the EFCC to arrest and detain him after hand-over.
