Wike accuses Nigerian Army of raising soldiers to run illegal oil bunkering in Rivers State

Governor Nyesom Wike

Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State has accused the General Officer Commanding the Nigerian Army 6 Division, Maj. Gen. Jamil Sarham, of running an illegal oil bunkering in the state.

According to Wike, the GOC raised a team of soldiers to steal and sell petroleum products.

“The GOC has his own team now doing oil bunkering for him because he wants to be chief of army staff,” Wike alleges.

“If you give that kind of person chief of army staff, what kind of security would we have in this country?”

“He cannot be removed here because they know the role he is playing for them: sabotaging our security architecture,” the governor added.

Wike made these serious allegations last week while receiving military operatives of the Operation Delta Safe led by Naval Rear Admiral Akinjide Akinrinade.

He further noted that the army general reveals security briefings to criminals in the state and the army headquarter was aware but however deliberately prefers to keep him in Port Harcourt, the capital of Rivers State.

“We would have security meeting, he will release it to criminals,” he said. “And chief of army staff will leave the man here because he is playing their role,”he added.

The governor also said that the Nigerian Army is sabotaging his efforts to reduce crime rate in the state.
