The Ogun State All Progressives Congress (APC) Caretaker Committee has accused Governor Ibikunle Amosun of deliberately keeping money meant for workers in the state in a fixed deposit account.
Amosun who is an APC senator-elect was suspended by the National Working Committee of the party for alleged anti-party activities. The party’s structure in the state was dissolved and a caretaker committee was appointed to oversee the party’s affairs in Ogun State.
Tunde Oladunjoye, the spokesman for the caretaker committee, had in a statement asked how the governor was able to get the money he used to pay workers in the state when he did not receive any bailout from the Federal Government.
He further alleged that the governor instead of paying workers deposited their money with some commercial banks for years to reap billions of naira in interest for himself.
The Ogun APC spokesman further said that Amosun should have paid workers their entitlements plus the alleged interests on their money he received from the banks.
Emmanuel Bankole, the Chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) in Ogun State, however confirmed that Governor Amosun has started paying workers in the state.
“Yes, workers have received their payments. I can confirm that to you,” he told Naija Buzz.
Mr. Bankole noted that apart from workers under Local Governments who have not received all payments, other workers in the state have been paid.
