Governor Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna State on Monday at the Presidential Villa said that he stand by what he said about defeating the godfather of Lagos politics.
According to the governor, when he was asked if he knew Asiwaju Bola Tinubu is the godfather of Lagos politics, he said he does not know whether he is Lagos godfather or not.
He further noted that he is entitled to his views and would not retract them or tender an apology if anyone feels offended.
“If I was asked a question and I gave an answer, anyone that feels offended by the answer, it is his own business. I have no apologies, I don’t apologise for my views.
“I don’t have to explain anything to anyone. This is a democracy and in a democratic space, there must be room for people to express their views,” El-Rufai stated while speaking to journalists at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
El-Rufai however stated that he gets along very well with Tinubu and there is no dispute between them.
“There is no dispute between me and anyone in the APC; the APC is one family; I don’t dispute with my own party,” he said.
Naija Buzz had last week published a report where El-Rufia while speaking at an event in Lagos State revealed how he defeated the godfathers in Kaduna politics and how politicians in Lagos State can apply his tactics to defeat the godfather of Lagos politics.
Bola Tinubu, the National Leader of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), is considered the godfather of Lagos politics. Consequently, El-Rufia’s statement is widely viewed as a direct affront at Tinubu.
