The Nigeria Police earlier today arraigned Senator Ademola Adeleke, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate in the 2018 Osun Governorship Election, before a Magistrate Court in Mpape, Abuja, over alleged certificate forgery.
Police had accused Senator Adeleke of forging an attestation letter and result from Muslim Grammar School, Ede, Osun State.
He submitted the alleged fake documents to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) as educational requirement to contest the governorship poll.
After pleading not guilty to the charges against him, Adeleke was granted bail in the sum of N2million with one surety by Muhammed Suberu, the magistrate who presided over the case.
Naija Buzz had earlier reported how the police invited and eventually detained Senator Adeleke at the Police Headquarters in Abuja since Monday.
His detention came after Justice Inyang Ekwo of the Federal High Court in Abuja had granted him permission to travel to the United States today for medical checkup. The judge however ordered him to honour the police invitation on Monday (yesterday) before he traveled.
