Atiku denies lobbying the United States, says allegation was a lie

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, the Presidential Candidate of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has vehemently denied allegations that he hired a firm to lobby the United States to stop President Muhammadu Buhari’s inauguration.

They were rumours that Atiku paid $30,000 to hire a lobby group to persuade the USA to recognize him as the president-elect.

Naija Buzz on Tuesday published the allegation by the Buhari Campaign Organisation against Atiku.

The pro-Buhari group in the report urged security agencies to investigate what it described as an unholy affair between Atiku and America.

Atiku however described the allegations as a total fabrication and a shameless lie.

Atiku’s position was made known by his media adviser, Mr. Paul Ibe, in Abuja.

“The APC leaders are behaving nervously like thieves living under the fear of being exposed and shamed. They are now using fake news against me instead of focusing on defending themselves in the court.

“For a party that has broken the worst record in election rigging, the APC doesn’t have any iota of integrity to be taken seriously by anybody.

“Atiku’s court case has become their biggest burden because it exposes their integrity as a sham, and instead of defending their stolen mandate in court, they are now using fake news to divert public attention from the historic electoral heist they have committed against Nigerians.”
